COPPA - If You Are Under 13 Years Old, Please Read!
COPPA is the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. In the United States, any user under 13 on a website that takes any personal information, needs to get parental consent.
Now, I know a lot of you have had to deal with this before. Sure, it's not the fairest thing in the world because not all sites use it, but being based in the United
States or having a number of underage members of your site from the states means you have to, otherwise the site can be shut down.
I doubt anyone under 13 that has signed up has read the full rules on the forums, because it explains all this stuff. No online forums are really designed for users under the age of 13 to join.
No one wants that, right? Okay then. So, if you're under 13 all you have to do is
have your parents send an email to fictionadopts@gmail.com verifying that you are allowed to post here. It must be their email address so they can be contacted if we ever need to prove their consent.
Just have them send an email with the following information:
Your username on the site and forums.
Their contact email address so they can be notified of anything going on.
That it will be alright to contact them in the future, if this needs to be verified.
Sign that they are indeed your legal guardian and that they are giving permission
for you to post on this site.
Now, if you don't post images of yourselves or commonly discuss your ages, then none of this should ever be a problem. So, keep that in mind.

If nothing else, please have your parent(s) sit down with you and read through the COPPA site so you can both understand your online rights better.

The terms of use for the forums is what you had to accept to register.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here.

All users that sent in information on the old site do not have to do it again. All your information is being transferred over and your parents do not need to resend the information.

*phew* Looks like I won't have to figure out some way to hack into my mom's email so I don't have to bother her while she's on the phone. XD

This is why I was happy once I reached thirteen! But being sixteen now it doesn't really matter!
